IPEMA's philosophy is simple - To represent and promote an open market for manufacturers of playground equipment and surfacing.

IPEMA's objectives are clear:

  • To represent and serve all manufacturers of the playground equipment industry.
  • To provide members with timely, in-depth information on key economic and governmental issues affecting the industry.
  • To promote relationships with other related organizations to enhance the strength of the marketplace.

The Florida Recreation and Parks Association

The Florida Recreation and Parks Association is committed to industry excellence by providing professional development, networking and resources to its members and promoting advocacy for parks and recreation interests.

The Säjai® Foundation

The Säjai® Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by Barbara King, works to combat childhood obesity and to inspire wise health and nutrition choices for young people. The goal of the Foundation is to educate and motivate youth ages 6 to 11 to make wise and healthy choices that will serve them for a lifetime.

The Foundation is currently leading the development of several youth programs and research for Park and Recreation after-school and camp programs. Research results on our first program, the Wise Kids® program, are now available. Click here to read the Executive Summary.

ADA

The Access Board is an independent Federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities. It operates with about 30 staff and a governing board of representatives from Federal departments and public members appointed by the President. Key responsibilities of the Board include:

  • developing and maintaining accessibility requirements for the built environment, transit vehicles, telecommunications equipment, and for electronic and information technology
  • providing technical assistance and training on these guidelines and standards
  • enforcing accessibility standards for federally funded facilities

American Society of Landscape Architects

Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects is the national professional association representing landscape architects. Beginning with 11 original members, ASLA has grown to more than 18,000 members and 48 chapters, representing all 50 states, US territories, and 42 countries around the world. ASLA promotes the landscape architecture profession and advances the practice through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship.

The American Society for Testing and Materials

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) 1.1 This consumer safety performance specification provides safety and performance standards for various types of public playground equipment. Its purpose is to reduce life-threatening and debilitating injuries.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans and for providing essential human services, especially for those people who are least able to help themselves.

The City Park Alliance

The City Park Alliance encourages greater involvement and investment in our nation’s city parks. City Park Alliance works to see city parks more fully recognized and valued for the role they play in building stronger, healthier and more liable cities.

The City Park Alliance is a non-profit organization fosters interest in, and support for, these dynamic public institutions through partnerships, network building, information sharing and advocacy. The City Park Alliance members include public agencies, park departments, park advocacy groups, corporations and individuals.

CPSC

CPSC is an Independent Federal Regulatory Agency. CPSC works to save lives and keep families safe by reducing the risk of injuries and deaths associated with consumer products. They do this by:

  • developing voluntary standards with industry
  • issuing and enforcing mandatory standards or banning consumer products if no feasible standard would adequately protect the public
  • obtaining the recall of products or arranging for their repair
  • conducting research on potential product hazards
  • informing and educating consumers through the media, state and local governments, private organizations, and by responding to consumer inquiries

American Forest Global ReLeaf

Global ReLeaf is American Forests' education and action program that helps individuals, organizations, agencies, and corporations improve the local and global environment by planting and caring for trees. By the end of 2006, American Forests has planted 25 million trees in more than 500 projects across the United States and internationally. It is our goal at American Forests to continue to plant millions of trees in new Global ReLeaf projects across the country and the globe.

NIH is the nation's medical research agency – making important medical discoveries that improve health and save lives.

National Playground Safety Institute

Mission Statement of the National Playground Safety Institute:

“It is the mission of the National Recreation and Park Association’s National Playground Safety Institute to teach the public how to provide a safe challenging play environment for all children.”

National Program for Playground Safety

In 1995, the University of Northern Iowa established the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) under a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Injury Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. Through its efforts to help address America's playground safety issues, NPPS hopes to see a decline in the nearly 200,000 annual playground-related injuries suffered by America's youth.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative

The Sustainable Sites Initiative is an interdisciplinary partnership between the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the United States Botanic Garden and a diverse group of stakeholder organizations to develop guidelines and standards for landscape sustainability. The motivation behind this initiative stems from the desire to protect and enhance the ability of landscapes to provide services such as climate regulation, clean air and water, and improved quality of life. Sustainable Sites™ is a cooperative effort with the intention of supplementing existing green building and landscape guidelines as well as becoming a stand-alone tool for site sustainability.
